With new restrictions regularly being introduced by the Government and Leeds City Council, it’s easy to become confused about the social distancing rules surrounding property viewings. One of our Directors, Michael Moore, is here to provide some clarity on the current rules for estate agents…

“Estate agents can still do physical viewings on properties for sale and to let – but they need to operate with extra vigilance, says their association body, Propertymark. Despite the rise in Coronavirus rates of infection, estate agents are allowed to continue selling and renting properties but it’s vitally important buyers and tenants do online viewings first, to ensure the property appears perfect for their requirements, following which they book a physical viewing.

As stated by the government, Agents should strongly encourage clients to view properties virtually in the first instance and then only physically inspect properties which they have a strong interest in.

All of Moores’ listed properties are accompanied by a video tour, offering potential viewers a realistic look inside, as well as a glimpse of life in the surrounding area. These can be found everywhere we advertise our properties: Rightmove, On The Market, our website and social media.

During viewings, you must wear a mask and have gloves or hand sanitiser, and don’t be surprised if the estate agent says only two people can attend the viewing (no children, pets or mum and dad to get a second opinion), this is to minimise the Covid risk not only for you, but also for the owners of the property or existing tenants, as well as the estate agency staff themselves. Agents will be happy to book a second or third viewing, if you’re really interested.”
