Despite the rain, over 4000 people flocked to Meanwood Festival Fun Day, held at Meanwood cricket pitch on Parkside Road on Bank Holiday Monday. The event had 55 different community, retail and food stalls, a raffle, two tombolas, play areas, donkey rides, a climbing wall and circus skills.

Hayley Moore, our Junior Partner who was on the organizing committee and is pictured with other committee members alongside the Lord Mayor, who officially opened the event, says “It was such a great day! It was lovely to see the people of Meanwood turn out in their thousands to support such a great community event. We’d been planning the event since November last year, so it lovely to see people turn out to support it. There was lots to do – for both children and adults – and the feedback from the community this week has been fantastic. We were lucky with the weather really – mostly just drizzle – luckily nothing like it was forecast!”

Hayley’s contacts at Leeds Rugby via our groundboard sponsorship also meant that Ronnie the Rhino popped down for a couple of hours. He was a great hit with both the children and adults!

As a sponsor of the event, Moores would like to thank Hayley and the other volunteers who worked hard to make the event happen, as well as Meanwood Cricket Club for the use of the pitch and of course to Scott and the team at The Myrtle Tavern.

Hayley has already agreed to remain on the organizing committee for 2018 – here’s to another great event next year! (And slightly better weather!)
