On Sunday 29th January, Junior Partner Hayley joined the Friends of Beckett Park in their efforts to thin out the beech saplings in the central copse of the park, to encourage wildlife and give more light to the young oaks, cherries and rowans.
With not much gardening experience under her belt, Hayley says, “I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon, it was great to meet more local residents and I learnt a lot more about the history of the park – and about gardening! The Friends of Beckett Park do an amazing job, and are the driving force behind a lot of the recent changes in the park, including the planting of more trees. The park is going to look wonderful as everything starts to blossom.”
The Friends of Beckett Park are always looking for volunteers to help on days like this, and have a couple of projects in the pipeline. If you are interested in helping then email firstname.lastname@example.org
