Yeadon is a quiet town located at one of the highest points of Leeds, close to Leeds and Bradford Airport. There are plenty of shops, cafes and pubs. Around half of Yeadon is a protected conservation area and many of the buildings in Yeadon centre, along with the Town Hall, are built from sandstone giving the town a charming character.
There are plenty of green spaces to walk the dog such as Yeadon Tarn which is also where the Yeadon Sailing meet to practice sailing on the lake. The tarn is used for sailing and fishing. Mallard ducks, swans, and a sizable population of Canada Geese can be found at the tarn. There is a BMX bike track adjacent to it, with competitions held in the summer.
The national charity Epilepsy Action has its headquarters in the town.
There are a number of primary schools as well as a sixth form college for the local children.
